How Much Do You Know About the Connection Methods and Characteristics of Galvanized Steel Pipes

There are three connection methods for galvanized steel pipes:
1. Grooving Connection
(1) Grooving Weld Cracking:
① Grind the weld bead on the inner wall of the grooved part of the galvanized steel pipe to reduce grooving resistance.
② Adjust the axis of the galvanized steel pipe and the grooving equipment, ensuring the pipe and equipment are level.
③ Adjust the grooving speed of the galvanized steel pipe. The grooving time should not exceed the specified limit, and force should be applied evenly and slowly.
(2) Grooving Steel Pipe Breakage:
① Grind the weld bead on the inner wall of the grooved part of the galvanized steel pipe to reduce grooving resistance;
② Adjust the axis of the galvanized steel pipe and the grooving equipment, ensuring the pipe and equipment are level.
③ Adjust the grooving speed. The grooving speed should not exceed the specified limit, and force should be applied evenly and slowly.
④ Check the width and model of the support roller and pressure roller of the grooving equipment to see if there is a mismatch in roller dimensions, causing a biting phenomenon.
⑤ Use a vernier caliper to check if the groove of the steel pipe meets the specifications. 
(3) The grooves formed by the grooving machine shall meet the following requirements:
① The surface from the pipe end to the groove section shall be smooth, without any bumps or rolling marks;
② The center of the groove shall be concentric with the wall of the galvanized steel pipe. The width and depth of the groove shall meet the requirements, and the model of the clamps shall be checked for correctness.
③ Apply lubricant to the rubber sealing ring and check for damage. Oil-based lubricants are not permitted. 
2. Welded Connections
① If the butt joints of the galvanized steel pipes are not aligned or have beveled ends, it is recommended to cut off a small section of the pipe end before further processing.
② If the butt joints of the two galvanized steel pipes are not tightly joined, resulting in uneven weld thickness, or if the pipe ends are elliptical due to inherent defects or damage during transport, it is recommended to cut off a small section of the pipe end before further processing.
③ If pinholes appear at the butt joints of the galvanized steel pipes, this is due to welding technique issues.
④ The presence of zinc nodules at the pipe ends causes welding difficulties and pinhole problems. For galvanized steel pipes with excessively large or numerous zinc nodules, simple zinc nodule removal is recommended.
3. Threaded Connection
① Misaligned Threads: If the pipe clamp and threads cannot fully contact or are loose, cut off the misaligned portion and re-thread.
② Incompatible Pipe Threads with Pipe Clamp Threads: Replace the pipe clamp or adjust the equipment and re-thread.
③ Missing Print Marks After Threading: Measure the pipe wall thickness to ensure it meets the standard thickness requirements for threaded pipes.

What are the characteristics of galvanized steel pipes?
1. The rust-proof treatment on the pipe surface makes it more durable, preventing rapid oxidation and the formation of white rust.
2. Comprehensive protection for the steel pipe: Heating ensures every part of the pipe is galvanized, protecting even uneven surfaces.
3. Galvanized steel pipes are corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant, extending their service life.
4. The pre-galvanized coating eliminates the need for external oiling or painting, making construction easier.
5. Galvanized steel pipes will not crack even in the coldest weather, making them particularly suitable for the frigid environments of northern regions.
