The basic process of
carbon steel pipe fittings is as follows: First, a polygonal ring shell or a polygonal fan-shaped shell with closed ends is welded. After the inside is filled with a pressure medium, internal pressure is applied. Under the action of internal pressure, the cross-section gradually changes from polygonal to circular, eventually becoming a circular ring shell. As needed, a circular ring shell can be cut into steel elbows or steel elbows of other specifications. This process is suitable for manufacturing large steel elbows of any specification where the ratio of the mean diameter to the inner diameter is greater than a certain value, and is currently the ideal method for manufacturing large pressure-bearing steel elbows.
The advantages of carbon steel pipe fittings are mainly reflected in the following aspects:
(1) No pipe blank is required as raw material, saving on pipe-making equipment and mold costs, and steel elbows with arbitrarily large diameters and relatively thin walls can be obtained.
(2) The blank is a flat plate or a developable surface, thus simplifying material preparation, ensuring accuracy, and facilitating assembly and welding.
(3) Due to the above two reasons, the manufacturing cycle can be shortened, and production costs are greatly reduced. Because it does not require any special equipment, it is especially suitable for on-site processing of carbon steel pipe fittings and large steel elbows.
