It is time for us to start the preheat since manufacturers have known the benefits of preheating for welded steel pipe like the ERW steel pipe. There are two main methods for customers to get today.
Common method is preheating with an open flame from a torch. This method is easy to get and apply, of course, it would supply simple setup and portability for manufacturers with the low initial investment cost. Editor knows that majority of us would know this way. Due to much of the heat would lost into surrounding air with the open flame method sot it seems like inefficient compared to other better options which we will talk later.
Induction heating would be a better one than open flame for preheating. It provides safe option for preheating so it has been applied in pipe welding. It also offers benefits for other part geometries, including flat plates for structural steel applications, as well as for shrink-fit applications.
