First, what are the characteristics of large-diameter plastic-coated steel pipes?
Large-diameter plastic-coated steel pipes offer multiple installation methods and excellent performance in pipeline installation. They play a crucial role in fire protection pipelines, power pipelines, and underground mining. The widespread application of plastic-coated steel pipes stems from their inherent characteristics. Plastic-coated steel pipes are a new type of composite pipe made by melting, spraying, or adsorbing epoxy resin powder coating onto the inner and outer walls using advanced technology, followed by high-temperature curing. As a replacement for ordinary pipelines, they possess the strength and rigidity of steel pipes and fittings, while also offering the advantages of plastic water pipes, such as a very smooth inner wall, good self-lubrication, rust resistance, scale resistance, low fluid resistance, abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance, good antibacterial and hygienic properties, and flexibility.

Second, what are the application areas of large-diameter plastic-coated steel pipes?
Large-diameter plastic-coated steel pipes primarily use spiral steel pipes or seamless steel pipes as the base material. Straight-seam welded steel pipes are not recommended, as they generally do not withstand pressure as well as spiral steel pipes and are more expensive. Therefore, spiral steel pipes are preferred as the base material for large-diameter plastic-coated steel pipes, with seamless steel pipes used only when higher pressure requirements are needed.

Large-diameter plastic-coated steel pipes are mainly used in HVAC, municipal, industrial, and sewage treatment sectors. In HVAC and municipal applications, large-diameter plastic-coated steel pipes address the problems of rust, scaling, and contamination inherent in ordinary steel pipes. Furthermore, their service life is 5-10 times longer than that of normal steel pipes, significantly reducing maintenance costs after pre-installation and embedding, as well as replacement costs after the pipes reach the end of their service life.

In industrial and sewage treatment sectors, the substances discharged and transported typically have a certain acidity or alkalinity. Under long-term oxidation, the corrosion rate of ordinary steel pipes is dozens of times faster than normal. Large-diameter plastic-coated steel pipes are inherently very expensive, and rapid corrosion causes costs to skyrocket. Furthermore, they fail to achieve the desired results, resulting in a net loss. Using large-diameter plastic-coated steel pipes, the pressure resistance of the steel itself is not reduced, while its susceptibility to acid and alkali corrosion and long-term oxidation in the air is reduced to almost zero.

Therefore, the service life of the steel pipe is increased from a few years to several decades. The service life is increased tenfold, while the cost remains roughly the same. Large-diameter plastic-coated steel pipes have won the favor of a wide range of users in HVAC, municipal, industrial, and sewage treatment industries due to their superior performance, high cost-effectiveness, energy saving, environmental protection, and ease of cleaning.
